backpack drive

Our Young Adults' Ministries set a goal to hand out 100 backpacks before the start of the 2019-2020 school year.  With the help of church members, family, and friends, they were able to reach their goal.  A special "Thank You" goes out to South Paw Barbers in Oshawa, Ontario, for donating 12 backpacks to the drive!

We look forward to giving out backpacks again next year.  Stay tuned for details on how you can participate.

walking club

To encourage the seniors in our community to

"get moving", we have started a Walking Club.

We are created to move. Walking is the easiest and best form of exercise.  It improves circulation and decreases stroke risk. It stops bone loss, strengthens muscles and supports our joints. It releases natural pain killers and improves mood. It slows mental decline. It aids weight loss It lowers Alzheimer's risk.

GUIDELINES: 150 minutes of moderate to vigorous exercise, but you are encouraged to just walk. How?

  • Join a community centre (e.g., TAIBU)

  • Form a mall walking group so you can walk during the winter months

  • Walk around the church.

vacation bible school

Every July, our church hosts a Vacation Bible School program for the children in our church and community.  Children have fun meeting new friends, doing different crafts, activities, and games, as well as learn new songs.  There is always a graduation at the end of it for family and friends to celebrate with the kids.

annual hospital benefit concert

Scarborough Health Network (SHN) aims to become Canada’s leading community teaching health network, shaping the future of care for Scarborough. Comprised of three main hospitals (Birchmount, Centenary and General) and eight satellite sites, SHN is the third-largest health network in Ontario.

In spite of the excellence and innovation demonstrated daily through our staff, physicians and programs, our success is currently being undermined by aging infrastructure and a lack of government investment. Outdated facilities struggle to accommodate high patient volumes and the need for modern medical technology. To achieve these aims, SHN Foundation is seeking leadership from you to help contribute to our success. Please visit www.shnfoundation.ca for more information or to donate today!
